A nail cutter, also known as a nail clipper or nail trimmer, is a small hand-held device used for trimming fingernails and toenails. Here’s a detailed description:

Design and Components

1. Blades:

   • Material: Typically made of stainless steel for durability and resistance to corrosion.
   • Shape: Curved or straight, designed to match the natural shape of the nail.
   • Edges: Sharpened edges to ensure a clean and precise cut.

2. Levers:

   • Upper Lever: The part that you press down to exert force on the blades. Often features a textured surface for better grip.
   • Lower Lever: Fixed to the main body and serves as a base against which the upper lever presses.

3. Main Body:

   • Material: Usually made from stainless steel or other durable metals. Can also have plastic components in some designs.
   • Shape: Ergonomically shaped to fit comfortably in the hand.

4. Pivot Point:

   • Pin or Rivet: Connects the upper and lower levers, allowing them to pivot. This component is crucial for the cutting action.

5. Nail File:

   • Integrated File: Many nail cutters come with a built-in nail file, typically located on the upper lever, for smoothing and shaping the edges of the nails after cutting.
   • Material: Often made of metal with a rough surface for filing down nail edges.
